Three types of AccuQuilt Dies

Happy Friday. While I have not blogged for two weeks, but I have been busy on Facebook. I added three quick videos to my "AccuQuilt Educator Jeanne LeBron" page. One on fabric grain, one on smart mat placement, and one on "Getting Acquainted with your Qube". I encourage anyone who reads this, that also does Facebook, to look me up there.

Today is a good day to remind everyone that there are three types of AccuQuilt dies: Strip dies, applique piecing dies, and geomentric shape dies. And while there are some constants, there are also some unique things about each type of die.

Constants:
*Store dies upright. Do not lay them flat and stack dies on top of each other.
*Put the label towards you, like a "belt on your belly", going left to right or right to left.
*Put fabric on the dies just 1/4" past the die blades - do not cover the whole die board.
*It is acceptable to use a smaller mat, and cover only the portion of the die you want cut.

Specific rules for types of dies:
*Geometric piecing dies: Length of Grain must go along the side of the die, same as the label.
*Applique dies: Stabilizer counts as 1/2 layer of fabric. Because stabilizer stops the fabric from stretching, you can place the fabric on the die in any direction.
*Strip piecing: You may place the fabric on the die in any direction, lengthwise grain, cross grain, or bias.
